Staff-member at Warner Bros studios stabbed as Anne Hathaway films 'The Witches'

A staff-member at Warner Bros' studios in Leavesden has been stabbed.

Police have confirmed the incident, which took place around lunch time yesterday as Anne Hathaway filmed the new remake of The Witches at the facility.

“Police were called at around 12.35pm today to reports of an incident at Warner Brothers Studios in Leavesden,” said a spokesperson.

“One man sustained a neck injury and was taken to hospital by ambulance. A second man was arrested on suspicion of wounding with intent to do grievous bodily harm and is currently in police custody.

“It is believed the men are known to each other. Enquiries are continuing at this time to establish the circumstances around what happened.”

A Warner Bros spokesperson said: “I can confirm that there was an isolated workplace incident at the Warner Bros. studio production facility and the police are now handling the matter.”

The vast studio complex near Watford has been the location for hundreds of Hollywood blockbusters, recently including Wonder Woman 1984, Men In Black: International and Mission: Impossible – Fallout.

It's also the location of the Harry Potter studio tour attraction, which opened in 2012.

Hathaway is starring in the second major adaptation of Roald Dahl's classic children's book, with veteran director Robert Zemeckis behind the camera.

Filming began at Leavesden last month, with Octavia Spencer, Stanley Tucci and Chris Rock also among the cast.

Hathaway is playing the lead role of the Grand High Witch, Miss Eva Ernst.

It's due out in October, 2020.
