Star Wars 8: First footage of Rey using lightsaber seen at CinemaCon
It might not be an awful lot to go on, but movie fans and critics CinemaCon event in Las Vegas have been given their first glimpse of Star Wars: The Last Jedi.
According to an iO9 reporter, it was just a handful of shots, but featured Daisy Ridley’s Rey brandishing a lightsaber.

In a huge sizzle reel they showed two shots of Rey using with the lightsaber. I'm buzzing. Just two shots!!

The presentation also featured a slide of the movie’s main players, minus newcoming cast-member Benicio Del Toro, and also Andy Serkis, who played Supreme Leader Snoke in ‘The Force Awakens’.

It follows the footage shown to Disney shareholders at their annual conference earlier this month, in which the briefest of scenes showed Rey handing Mark Hamill’s Luke Skywalker his old lightsaber, and him demanding she identify herself.

We just saw more "Star Wars: The Last Jedi" footage. In it, Luke asks Rey, "Who are you?" Then we see her deftly handle a lightsaber.

More on "The Last Jedi" clip: We saw a shot of an X-wing wobbling mid-air, under attack inside a giant ship. Looked like a wounded bird.

Finally, "The Last Jedi" footage included a shot of Rey, clearly under duress, surrounded by many small orbs of light that hung in the air.

So while it’s indeed not a great deal to go on, there’s more on the way.
The Star Wars Celebration from April 13 to 16 in Orlando is expected to be when the first trailer is unleashed.
The movie, directed by Rian Johnson, is due out on December 15. Watch the announcement teaser below.
