According to Variety, the upcoming adaptation of Stephen King’s ‘The Dark Tower’ has tapped newcomer Tom Taylor… in the role of Jake Chambers.

‘The Dark Tower’ fans will already know all about Jake Chambers – one of the main protagonists and member of Roland’s second ka-tet in the renowned novel series. He’s often described as a smaller, blonde version of Roland… and has a natural knack for being a gunslinger.

But who is Tom Taylor?

“Sources tell Variety that Taylor won the role after a worldwide search to find the young actor who would serve as the protege of Roland Deschain (Elba) in the upcoming films.”

Of course, the character Jake Chambers also has a run in with the Man in Black… which means he’ll likely be sharing plenty of screen time with Matthew McConnaughey who has reportedly landed the big screen role.

“McConaughey is on board to play the Man in Black,” they said. “Mad Max: Fury Road actress Abbey Lee also has a role in the film.”

“The role would mark Taylor’s largest to date, having previously appeared in the British television series ‘Doctor Foster’ in a recurring role,” they explained. He also starred in the BBC historical series, ‘The Last Kingdom’.

‘The Dark Tower’ will be directed by Nikolaj Arcel.

‘The Dark Tower’ heads to cinemas on 17 February 2017.
