Steve Zahn Joins War For The Planet Of The Apes

‘War for the Planet of The Apes’ lands another cast member… as Steve Zahn signs on for the upcoming sci-fi sequel.

According to The Wrap, the 47-ywar-old actor and comedian has been cast in the upcoming ‘Planet of the Apes’ sequel… and it seems he’ll be playing a primate.

“Steve Zahn has been cast as a new ape in the third installment of 20th Century Fox’s ‘Planet of the Apes’ franchise,” they revealed. “The story line is being kept under wraps.”

Steve Zahn is perhaps best known for the role of Tucker in ‘Dallas Buyers Clube’ but has appeared in numerous films and TV shows including ‘Diary of a Wimpy Kid’, ‘Escape from Planet Earth’ and the hit ABC mockumentary, ‘Modern Family’.

He’s also due to voice a Pterodactyl in Disney Pixar’s upcoming animated feature, ‘The Good Dinosaur’.

But how does he fit into ‘War for the Planet of the Apes’?

Unfortunately, little is known about the upcoming sequel, except that it will presumably pick up where ‘Dawn of the Planet of the Apes’ left off. Apart from that, we have little idea what will happen… and remain unsure about many of the recently cast roles.

However, we do know that Steve Zahn will be portraying a new ape – presumably working alongside Andy Serkis who will reprise the role of Caesar.

But will this new ape be a friend or foe to the leader of the Apes?

For now, we’ll have to wait and see.

Steve Zahn joins an already stellar cast which includes Andy Serkis, Woody Harrelson and Gabriel Chavarria.

Matt Reeves returns to direct, based on a screenplay by himself and Mark Bomback.

‘War for the Planet of the Apes’ heads to cinemas on 30 May 2017.
