Sydney Sweeney cast as new 'Barbarella'
Sydney Sweeney is to star in and produce a new Barbarella movie.
The 25-year-old star of Euphoria and White Lotus will play the title role of the space adventurer in a remake of the 1968 cult sci fi movie which starred Jane Fonda.
According to Deadline, Sweeney – also known for her performances in Quentin Tarantino's Once Upon A Time... In Hollywood and The Handmaid's Tale – will play Barbarella and is also signed up to be an executive producer on the movie.

The project – based on the French comic book series by Jean-Claude Forest – currently has no writer or director attached.
Grace & Frankie star Jane Fonda, 84, played Barbarella in the 1968 film adaptation directed by Roger Vadim.
The film follows the comic book astronaut from the 41st century on a mission to stop evil scientist Durand Durand destroying the earth with his positronic ray.
Barbarella was not a huge hit at the box office, but has since become a cult classic and inspired the name of the band Duran Duran.
The erotic movie divides critics as some consider the scantily-clad female hero to be objectified in a galaxy dominated by men.
However, others view her exploration of her own sexuality to be empowering and that as a woman tasked with saving the world, Barbarella is in fact a feminist heroine.
Sweeney stars as teenager Cassie Howard in HBO award-winning drama Euphoria, which has come under fire for excessive nude scenes.
But Sweeney told The Hollywood Reporter: “People forget that I’m playing a character. They think, ‘Oh, she gets naked on screen, she’s a sex symbol.’ And I can’t get past that.

"I have no problems with those scenes, and I won’t stop doing them, but I wish there was an easier way to have an open conversation about what we’re assuming about actors in the industry.”
