The Italian Stallion may be about to trade the Hollywood hills for Washington DC.

Reports claim that US President-elect Donald Trump has offered Sylvester Stallone a top arts-based role in his cabinet. This was first brought to light earlier this week by the Daily Mail, and now Deadline confirm that the offer has been made and Stallone is ‘mulling it.’

Trump is said to have offered the 70-year old actor, writer and director a high-ranking role – likely chairman – with federal agency the National Endowment for the Arts (NEA), which provides support, promotion and funding to creative arts ventures in the US.

An unnamed source tells the Daily Mail, “It’s been widely and wrongly assumed that a Trump Presidency will be hostile to the arts. But Mr Trump feels this sort of A-list appointment is precisely the shot in the arm that the industry needs.”

If Stallone accepts the offer, he would not be the first showbiz figure to join the Trump administration, as other positions have already been given to movie producer Steven Mnuchin and Linda McMahon, formerly of WWE.

Stallone has never been a registered Republican, although he has supported the party in the past, notably endorsing Republican candidate John McCain in 2008.
However, he did not voice support for Donald Trump earlier this year, although the two are known to have been friendly.

The actor (Oscar-nominated this year for his seventh performance as Rocky Balboa in ‘Creed’) recently told Vanity Fair, “I love Donald Trump. He’s a great Dickensian character. You know what I mean?

“There are certain people like Arnold [Schwarzenegger], Babe Ruth, that are bigger than life. But I don’t know how that translates to running the world.”

Stallone has yet to say anything publicly regarding this matter.
