Film4 have paired together with ‘The Inbetweeners’’ Iain Morris and Damon Beesley.

The studio have confirmed that they are currently in development with the duo’s production company FP Films on four comedies that will be released over the next 2 years. Morris and Beesley wrote all 18 episodes of the television series as well as the first film, before writing and directing its 2014 sequel.

Speaking about their decision to work with Morris and Beesley, Film4’s company director David Kosse explained (via Metro), “Film4 had phenomenal success working with both these great companies to create one of the most successful UK comedy franchises of all time.”

“To pull off that level of success not once but twice is testament to the extraordinary creative genius and professional rigour of all involved in both the production and distribution of these films.”

After the huge success of ‘The Inbetweeners’ on E4, where it won various UK comedy awards, ‘The Inbetweeners’ Movie followed in 2011.

It set the record for the biggest opening weekend for a UK comedy film, before ultimately amassing £60 million at the box office. The sequel followed in 2014, taking in £43 million.

Unfortunately, there’s no word yet on whether this deal includes a third big-screen outing for Will, Jay, Neil, and Simon.

However, the fact that Blake Harrison, who played the loveably dim-witted Neil, told the Radio Times at the end of last year that the not-so Fab Four were too old to reprise their characters suggests that’s not likely.
