“The Moon Controls Us” - Jake Gyllenhaal Gives Odd Interview
Those Hollywood types can come out with some odd stuff sometimes, eh?
Jake Gyllenhaal, in a recent interview with Esquire magazine, let slip some of his more outlandish ideas, including one about the moon.
Yes, that moon.
- Willow and Jaden Smith give bizarre interview
- Cate Blanchett interview doesn’t got to plan
- Vince Vaughn thinks there should be guns in schools
The 34-year-old star also has some thoughts on molecules.
“I believe deeply in the unconscious. That you literally accumulate the molecules of the space that you’re in,” he said.
“We’re like 90 percent water, so naturally we are going to be affected by the moon when it’s full: if the sea is, why wouldn’t we be?
“That seems scientific to me.”
He didn’t stop at the moon affecting our behaviour either.
Gyllenhaal starred in cop drama ‘End of Watch’ in 2012, and thinks that the experience may have involved some kind of transferal of molecules.
“If you spend enough time in whatever environment your character would exist in – the way I spent six months with police officers – then the molecules of that environment must transfer somehow,” he added.
“And then you put it on screen, and people go, 'I feel something that I don’t normally feel’.”
We’ve not heard the likes from him since he starred in the mind-bending 'Donnie Darko’, his breakthrough role.
But he’s always one for a profound quote.
On fame, he once said: “First, it’s 'Who is Jake Gyllenhaal?’, then it’s 'Get me Jake Gyllenhaal’, then 'Get me someone who looks like Jake Gyllenhaal’, and then 'Who is Jake Gyllenhaal?’… Right now, I’m between 'Who is Jake Gyllenhaal?’ and 'Get me Jake Gyllenhaal’.”
Got that?
Next up, he’ll be seen in the transformative 'Southpaw’, due out in the UK on July 24.
