Thor gets intense in new Thor: Ragnarok image

Here’s a new glimpse of Thor in ‘Thor: Ragnarok’…

And he looks a lot different with his new, ‘improved’ armour.

A new, exclusive image of Chris Hemsworth in ‘Thor: Ragnarok’ has been unveiled thanks to Empire Online… and he’s not exactly the mighty Thor we remember from The Avengers.

Thor’s flowing, golden locks are gone, instead replaced with a more practical buzz cut. And his usually ornate Asgardian armour has been scrawled with tribal markings, presumably as a means of fitting in with his fellow combatants.

Obviously, he’s changed for a reason…

Thor is no longer knocking about with The Avengers, and after a bit of an incident in Asgard, it looks as though the God of Thunder has been banished to the planet Sakaar – that’s a world that’s overseen by Jeff Goldblum’s rather amazing Grandmaster.

And this cool new picture gives us a glimpse of Thor as he’s about to head into the gladiatorial arena for a fight to the death…

I wonder who his opponent will be?

If you’ve seen the rather glorious trailer, you’ll know that at some point, he ends up being pitted against another former Earth resident and fellow Avenger, The Incredible Hulk. But is that who he’s going up against here?

Either way, it looks as though Thor is up to his neck in it.

At least he looks the part.

Taika Waititi directed the movie based on a script by Eric Pearson.
