Tom Hiddleston Is Ripped And Nude In New High-Rise Trailer
In a wonderfully pleasing example of cosmic confluence, Tom Hiddleston’s birthday – he’s 35 today – coincides with this appearance of him in his birthday suit.
It will likely be the scene from the new trailer for Ben Wheatley’s anticipated ‘High-Rise’ that Hiddleston fans will focus on.
The scene in question involves Sienna Miller’s Charlotte Melville finding an excuse to chat to her new downstairs neighbour - Hiddleston’s Dr. Robert Laing - by hurling a glass onto his balcony, where he’s sunning himself in the knack.
The movie – set in the 70s and which looks stunningly stylish – finds 'Kill List’ helmsman Wheatley adapting J.G. Ballard’s celebrated novel of the same name.
The synopsis goes like this:
“Robert Laing (Tom Hiddleston) is a young doctor seduced by the lifestyle in a high-rise, an isolated community, cut off from the rest of society in their luxury tower block, and its creator, the architect Anthony Royal (Jeremy Irons). Taking up residence on the twenty-fifth floor, Laing discovers a world of complex loyalties, and also strikes up a relationship with Royal’s devoted aide Charlotte (Sienna Miller). After Laing befriends Richard Wilder (Luke Evans), a documentary filmmaker relegated to the second floor who is determined to provoke the class injustices inherent in the high-rise, a dangerous social situation develops and the high-rise eventually fragments into violent tribes.”
Also among the star-studded cast are 'Mad Men’s Elisabeth Moss, James Purefoy, Keeley Hawes, Reece Sheersmith and Peter Ferdinando.
The movie’s producer Jeremy Thomas has been trying to make the movie since the late 70s, with the revered director Nicolas Roeg in place to direct at one point.
The reception for this new trailer has been warmly greeted - one Hiddle-fan having already rendered the sun-bathing scene and one of the other posters for the movie in Lego. Obviously.
