Travis Kelce calls Happy Gilmore 2 role 'a dream come true'

Travis Kelce's dream came true when he got to act opposite Adam Sandler in the upcoming Happy Gilmore sequel.

During an appearance on The Pat McAfee Show, the U.S. football player reflected on filming "a few scenes" for the sequel to the 1996 golf comedy.

"That was a dream come true," the Kansas City Chiefs star gushed. "I thought SNL (Saturday Night Live) was going to be the peak of my acting and showman or entertainment career. Working with Happy Gilmore himself, the Sandman and Happy Productions, it was off the chain."

He continued, "They're so professional and yet so fun to work with. I felt like I was working with like the (Chiefs coach) Andy Reid of the acting world. (Sandler) is every bit as cool off the screen as he is on the screen. That was a dream come true. That was awesome."

Kelce's role is currently unknown, however, a recent teaser trailer suggests that he plays a golf club employee.

The sports star, who made his acting debut in the horror series Grotesquerie in September, previously joked that he'd do "anything" to appear in the comedy.

"I'll be a f**king extra... anything to get around Happy Gilmore, an Adam Sandler film or set. Count me in!" the keen golfer said on his New Heights podcast early last year. "I'll do anything in the movie. I'll be part of it any way I possibly can."

Sandler reprises his titular role alongside Christopher McDonald as his rival Shooter McGavin, Julie Bowen as Happy's love interest Virginia Venit and Ben Stiller as the former abusive orderly Hal L. Newcomers include Benny Safdie, Bad Bunny, Margaret Qualley and Eminem.

The funnyman expects Happy Gilmore 2 to be released on Netflix as early as July 2025.
