Mission: Impossible star Vanessa Kirby has weighed in on rumours she's set to join the Fantastic Four franchise.

The actress is one of many names currently being speculated to take on the role of Sue Storm (aka Invisible Woman) in the next MCU outing, and Kirby certainly hinted she'd be keen to follow in the footsteps of Jessica Alba and Kate Mara, who both brought the character to life in previous Fantastic Four movies.

"It would be an honour," Kirby told Comicbook.com in an interview alongside her Mission: Impossible Dead Reckoning, Part One co-star Pom Klementieff, though she didn't give away too much more.

Klementieff, who plays Mantis in the Guardians of the Galaxy franchise, was pretty excited at the prospect of Kirby joining her in the MCU, though.

"We could work together!" she exclaimed.

But if all the casting rumours are to be believed, The Crown actress could face some tough competition for the Marvel role. Pam & Tommy star Lily James, Killing Eve's Jodie Comer and The Dropout's Amanda Seyfried have all also been linked to the part.

But that's not all. Amsterdam actress Saoirse Ronan, Hamilton's Phillipa Soo and The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel star Rachel Brosnahan are three other actors fans believe could be the next Sue Storm.

The rumour mill is also going into overdrive around the casting for Mr Fantastic. To date, Star Wars star Adam Driver, You's Penn Badgeley, Slumdog Millionaire star Dev Patel and Andor's Diego Luna are names speculated for the leading role.

One person we know for sure will be working on the project though? WandaVision director Matt Shakman. He's on board to direct the next much-anticipated Fantastic Four movie (which is now scheduled for a 2025 release) alongside scriptwriters Jeff Kaplan and Ian Springer.

Back in February, Shakman addressed the Fantastic Four casting theories from fans, telling Comicbook.com: "I love these characters. I love the chance that we have to bring them to the MCU and I really want to get it right and I know that everybody out there is really excited and feels passionate in the same way wanting to get it right.

"And so I encourage it. I think it's great. But yeah, I have no early answers for anyone today about casting."

Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part One is released in UK cinemas on July 11 and in US cinemas on July 12.
