First War for the Planet of the Apes trailer arrives with a bang

20th Century Fox has unleashed the first trailer for ‘War of the Planet of the Apes’, the third film in the Apes reboot trilogy, and you can watch it in full above.

Things seem to have taken a turn for the much worse after the events of 2014’s ‘Dawn of the Planet of the Apes’, with all out war raging between humankind and the sapient apes. An icy chill permeates through every frame of the impressive first trailer, and July 2017 now can’t come quickly enough.

“This is our last stand,” explains Woody Harrelson’s ruthless Colonel, “And if we lose it will be a planet… of apes.”

Andy Serkis returns as ape leader Caesar who’ll be assuming a Moses-like role in this third film, going on a quest to avenge his kind.

In ‘War for the Planet of the Apes’, the third chapter of the critically acclaimed blockbuster franchise, Caesar and his apes are forced into a deadly conflict with an army of humans led by a ruthless Colonel.

After the apes suffer unimaginable losses, Caesar wrestles with his darker instincts and begins his own mythic quest to avenge his kind. As the journey finally brings them face to face, Caesar and the Colonel are pitted against each other in an epic battle that will determine the fate of both their species and the future of the planet.

There’s also a cool new poster for the film below, and we’re getting serious ‘Hateful Eight’ vibes from it. Hateful Ape anyone?
