We asked Snipes whether he’d be making a cameo in any forthcoming Marvel films after we spotted him on the ‘X-Men: Days of Future Past’ premiere red carpet.
“Well, you never know,” he says, “I liked playing Blade. I look forward to doing him again at some point. It’d be nice.”
However, the action legend was unsure how the vampire vigilante would fit in with Marvel’s primary-hued heroes.
“[Blade] is a little hardcore for some of the Avengers right now. They’re not hanging out at the same spots, if you know what I mean?”
Snipes played Blade for three movies and the success of the dark Marvel franchise is credited with paving the way for all of the modern superhero movies we have today. 20th Century Fox moved forward with ‘X-Men’ after ‘Blade’ proved to be a surprise hit in 1998, and the rest is history.

How Much Did The Original ‘Star Wars’ Cast Get Paid?
‘Blade’ and ‘Blade II’ were both rated 18 in the UK for “strong bloody violence”, while the third film was a 15. Marvel films are generally rated 12 or 12A in the UK, so Blade would definitely have to tone down his violent tendencies to join the Avengers on-screen.
It’s more likely a touch of Snipes’ braggadocio rather than a solid plan to reprise the role, but either way, just hearing the great man talk about a potential return as Blade has definitely got our hopes up.
‘The Expendables III’ is coming to cinemas Thursday, 14 August.
