Why Batman is the perfect superhero for Robert Pattinson
The role of Batman has always appealed to Robert Pattinson, the actor has admitted, particularly because he believes that, despite being one of the most popular characters in pop culture history, the property feels like it “exists outside” of other blockbusters.
Pattinson made this admission to Entertainment Weekly, after being asked why he decided to pick the part of Bruce Wayne.
“There was something that always appealed to me about it,” he explained.
“I feel like it sort of exists outside the realm of this sort of [blockbuster]. Batman movies have always attracted really good directors and had really good actors playing in it. It’s got a legacy and a lineage to it which it’s never seemed to me like it’s been a cash-in for something.”
Pattinson isn’t the only esteemed actor to have been unable to turn down Matt Reeves’ offer to star in The Batman.
That’s because the ensemble for the hugely anticipated blockbuster has been rounded out by Zoe Kravitz, who’ll play Catwoman, Paul Dano as The Riddler, Colin Farrell as Penguin, John Turturro as Carmine Falcone, while Peter Sarsgaard has been cast in an unspecified part, which is expected to be another foe.

That’s just the villains, too, as Matt Reeves has also cast Jeffrey Wright as Gotham City Police Department commissioner James Gordon, while Andy Serkis will portray Wayne’s loyal butler Alfred Pennyworth.
Reeves, who has also co-written the film, is one of the most respected directors currently working in Hollywood, as he has overseen Cloverfield, Let Me In, Dawn Of The Planet Of The Apes and its follow-up War For The Planet Of The Apes.
