It’s official – ‘The New Mutants’ is coming.
It looks as though the next generation of ‘X-Men’ will be heading to the big screen sooner than we thought, as ‘The New Mutants’ enters pre-production.
Josh Boone, the writer/director of the upcoming ‘X-Men’ spin-off has teased that ‘The New Mutants’ is now in pre-production, teasing fans on Instagram with some rather telling images.
It all began a few days ago on Josh Boone’s birthday…
‘The New Mutants’ director shared a cool shot of his birthday cake, which featured the classic New Mutants logo from the comic books alongside a personalised birthday message.
But it’s all in the hashtags:
“#birthdaycake #prep #newmutants #productionoffices”
Boone followed it up with another image taken on the 20th Century Fox lot… and it strongly suggests that he’s deep into pre-production with ‘The New Mutants’.
“Staring off into the middle distance on the #foxlot during a break,” he said. “Thanks @knatelee #newmutants #makingmovies #makingmovieswithfriends #xmen #clouds”
‘The New Mutants’ was announced back in 2015 with Josh Boone on board to both write and direct the movie. He previously directed the hit YA flick ‘The Fault in our Stars’ which many fans believe gives him a certain edge when tackling a younger generation of mutants.
After all, it’s thought that ‘The New Mutants’ will be the YA version of Fox’s ‘X-Men’.
Will we start to get some details of the long-awaited project soon?
For now, we’ll have to wait and see, But at least it’s moving forward.
