Zack Snyder Teases ‘Intense, Gigantic’ Seven Samurai-inspired Justice League

If you thought ‘Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice’ was big, you aint seen nothing yet as director Zack Snyder is promising something even bigger from 2017′s ‘Justice League’.

Warning: Potential plot spoilers coming up…

He says the follow up to ‘Batman v Superman’, due in cinemas November 2017, will take cues from one of Akira Kurosawa’s most influential films.

“I’m getting ready to start ‘Justice League’ on the 11th of April, so in like two weeks we start shooting,” Synder told Yahoo Movies, “and it’s an intense, awesome, and gigantic undertaking because Bruce [Wayne] is having to go out and sort of ‘Seven Samurai’ the Justice League together, which is fun.”

The core members of the Justice League - DC’s answer to Marvel’s Avengers - are introduced in ‘BvS’, but without giving too much away, they’re still far from being a cohesive unit by the end of the film.

“It’s slightly monumental,” adds Snyder, “and at the same time they’re starting to grapple with this coming threat.”

That coming threat is presumably Darkseid, the DC Universe baddie rumoured to be the main villain of ‘Justice League’, who’s hinted at in a dream sequence in ‘BvS’.

Amy Adams confirms Lois Lane will return for ‘Justice League’, but Jesse Eisenberg who plays Lex Luthor in ‘BvS’ seemed unsure whether he was involved at all.

In a surprising twist, Eisenberg suggests we could see Lex turn good in the saying “he has a real righteous sense of conviction, so he could turn the corner, reforming. He’s dogmatic more than he’s evil.”

Before ‘Justice League’ though, Warner Bros. has lined up ‘Suicide Squad’ and ‘Wonder Woman’, the latter of which promises to flesh out the backstory of Gal Gadot’s Diana Prince with the actress herself describing it as a “coming of age” story.
