Norris revealed his conditions for signing up to the film in an interview to a Polish magazine.

“'In Expendables 2', there was a lot of vulgar dialogue in the screenplay,” he explains. “For this reason, many young people wouldn't be able to watch this. But I don't play in movies like this. Due to that I said I won't be a part of that if the hardcore language is not erased. Producers accepted my conditions and the movie will be classified in the category of PG-13."

For Chuck's sake... Norris hates swearing
The first ‘Expendables’ film scored commercial success despite excessive violence and bad language, but star Sylvester Stallone confirmed the cursing will be toned down for the follow-up.

Speaking to AICN, the freakishly ripped 65-year-old said: “The PG13 rumor [sic] is true, but before your readers pass judgement, trust me when I say this film is LARGE in every way and delivers on every level. This movie touches on many emotions which we want to share with the broadest audience possible, BUT, fear not, this Barbeque of Grand scale Ass Bashing will not leave anyone hungry...”

Simon West will be taking over directing duties from Stallone, with most of the original cast returning. Both Arnold Schwarzenegger and Bruce Willis are said to have bigger roles this time around.

So killing, stabbing, and various violence is okay, but we can't cuss. That may be the most asinine thing I've heard today.

I am not a huge fan of swearing in films if I'm honest, I don't mind the odd swear word, as long as it's use is justifiable, but I do think that a lot of the stuff in Holloywood blockbusters is there gratuitously. However it seems strange to me that a man who has made his career kicking the #$%$ out of people is complaining about bad language. Surely violence is also a bad influence on kids?

Best keep Eddie Murphy away from the film, the only time he can string two lines together without swearing is when he's a donkey

Some swearing in film is ok! but when every second word starts with an "F" it does get tiresome & one has to wonder if this is just a cop out for the script writer who perhapes can't think of any other way to express the scene.

My kids in 8th grade every imaginable swear and sexual word in High School. Because we raised them well (I think) - they speak with perfect manners to us, our parents, our friends and strangers. Now how they speak with other high school friends in private I can only guess. I suppose these PG13 ratings are so parents can feel comfortable watching with their kids because Im sure it doesn't phase them.

Now the ultra violence, which is not common in 95% of American high schools is a different story. Its something my kids have never really been exposed to because they dont watch action movies - but for some reason a PG13 rating is ok. Amazing.

Good on him! I'm not a prude and believe a swear word or two is warranted in the right situation but so many films have been turned off in our house due to the fact that every other word is f-ing and blinding so much so that the storyline pales into insignificance. There seems to be a culture in some film making of swearing for swearing's sake and not to make impact at a crucial moment and I often think this is because the underlying storyline is so weak the bad language is used as a cover up. I'm glad someone is making a stand at last, who knows we may have some really decent films to watch in future if filmakers take note!
