The on-again-off-again, long-promised 'Dumb and Dumber' sequel is back on, after being picked up for production by Universal Pictures.

The news came on Twitter from the Farrelly Brothers' official feed, and confirmed that the Jim Carrey/Jeff Daniels follow up to their 1994 stone-cold classic is back on track.

It emerged last week that Warner Bros had passed on the film, throwing the long-gestating project into jeopardy.

But fans are likely to cracking open the champagne (watch out for Snow Owls) and putting out the vibe now that the project is back on.

The plot reportedly involves Harry (Daniels) and Lloyd (Carrey) reuniting and hitting the road in search of Harry's illegitimate daughter who is in need of a kidney transplant.

Sounds tasteful already.

It's hoped that it will put right the wrongs of the disastrous 2003 prequel 'Dumb and Dumberer: When Harry Met Lloyd', which starred neither Carrey or Daniels.
