Daniel Radcliffe wanted to play Spider-Man
It looks as though Daniel Radcliffe fancies playing a superhero…
During an interview with The Metro, the 27-year-old ‘Harry Potter’ star admitted he’d love to suit up as a Marvel superhero… and there’s a particular spandex-clad hero he’s got in mind.
“I would’ve been a good Spider-Man but the boat has sailed on that,” he explained. “And I’m very happy to watch Tom Holland do it. He’s fantastic.”

“I love superhero movies,” he added.
Don’t we all, Daniel. But would he have made a good Spider-Man?
He’s certainly no stranger to a bit of action, with the ‘Harry Potter’ movies becoming increasingly action-packed as the years went on. But he’s not exactly acrobatic… and I get the feeling that’s a bit of a necessity when it comes to suiting up as Marvel’s webslinger.
Still, Radcliffe isn’t averse to joining another franchise… as long as there’s not too much of a commitment.
“If it was good enough and something I was interested in,” he explained.
But then he added: “I’m not sure if I’d sign up for something that was another seven or eight films or ten years but a shorter franchise, yeah.”
Not up for seven or eight films? Perhaps he’s best off leaving Marvel movies alone, then. After all, there’s plenty of ‘Spider-Man’ appearances on their way in the coming ‘Avengers’ movies, not to mention the possibility of another ‘Spider-Man’ franchise continuing after the upcoming ‘Spider-Man: Homecoming’.
Still, ‘Harry Potter’ fans will no doubt be left wondering what might have been.
But after his debut in ‘Captain America: Civil War’ it looks as though Marvel has landed the right Spider-Man for the job.
‘Spider-Man: Homecoming’ heads to cinemas on 7 July 2017.
