Edge of Tomorrow 2 gets a new title
‘Edge of Tomorrow 2’ is happening…
And it’s getting a strange new title.
During an interview with Collider, director Doug Liman revealed that the long-rumoured ‘Edge of Tomorrow’ sequel is still happening… and it’s getting a familiar new name.
“We have an amazing story! It’s incredible,” he said. “Way better than the first film, and I obviously loved the first film. It will be called Live Die Repeat and Repeat. Tom [Cruise] is excited about it, and Emily Blunt is excited about it. The big question is just when we’ll do it. But it’s not an if, it’s a when.”

‘Live Die Repeat and Repeat’?
Those of you who followed production of the original movie will remember it appearing in cinemas as ‘Edge of Tomorrow’… but it was later rebranded for home release as ‘Live. Die. Repeat’.
Obviously, Liman’s new title for the upcoming sequel plays on that.
But should the film’s title follow the home or cinematic release?
The original ‘Edge of Tomorrow’ was met with lukewarm reception at the box office, managing a meagre $370.5 million worldwide on an eye-watering budget of $178 million. Not exactly the huge return Warner Bros. was hoping for, then.
But following the film’s rebranding as ‘Live. Die. Repeat’, it shot to the top of home release charts – especially when it began to appear in stores on Blu-ray. So perhaps the new name and marketing push did the film some good.
Either way, it’s encouraging to see the sequel still on its way.
‘Edge of Tomorrow’ was a fantastic movie, with a stylish take on some very original ideas. Let’s just hope that ‘Live Die Repeat and Repeat’ delivers on the promise of the original.
