George Miller Still ‘Definitely Interested’ In Making Man of Steel 2

Despite recent reports that George Miller had ruled himself out of making ‘Man of Steel 2′, the Australian film-maker has told Yahoo Movies UK that it’s a film he’s still keen to be involved with.

“I’m definitely interested [in making ‘Man of Steel 2′],” Miller told us.

“I was going to do a Justice League until an Australian government rebate didn’t go through. They were very indecisive and we were up against the writer’s strike, and it fell through.”

The director is on the promotional trail for the DVD and Blu-ray release of ‘Mad Max: Fury Road’ (available now) and following the uproarious success of his long-awaited fourquel, everyone wants to know what the 70-year-old Australian (pictured below) is up to next.

He told Digital Spy that rumours he was making a sequel to Zack Synder’s Superman film were “probably not true”, but to us it sounds like a movie he could still make in the future once he’s got his next project, something he describes as a “very small film without any special effects”, out of his system.

“I’ve always been interested in mythology,” Miller added ,“and I think the superhero myth and the superhero stories are basically Greek and Roman mythology revisited in the modern day, so that’s always very interesting. Those things are always in the mix.”

After all, there’s probably not room for ‘Man of Steel 2′ on Warner Bros.’ busy DC Comics slate until at least 2018 or 2019. Next year will see the release of ‘Batman v Superman’ and ‘Suicide Squad’, 2017 has ‘Wonder Woman’ and ‘Justice League Part 1′, while ‘Aquaman’ and ‘The Flash’ are coming in 2018.

That’s plenty of time for Miller to make his small movie a ‘Mad Max: Fury Road’ sequel AND ‘Man of Steel 2′, so until Warner Bros. makes any official announcements about the ‘Man of Steel’ sequel, we’ll quietly be keeping our fingers crossed that Miller will get the nod.
