UPDATE: Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson has categorically denied taking part in an interview, published by the Daily Star, in which he appeared to insult millennials, calling them “generation snowflake”.

Setting the record straight on his Instagram page, The Rock said: “The interview never took place. It never happened. I never said any of those words. It’s completely untrue, one hundred percent. It’s fabricated.”

The Daily Star has since deleted the interview from its website. Yahoo has reached out for a response.

ORIGINAL STORY: Dwayne ‘The Rock’ Johnson doesn’t have any time for the ‘easily offended’.

The former wrestling star has slammed younger folks – who he dubs ‘generation snowflake’ – accusing them of ‘putting us backwards’.

“I don’t have to agree with what somebody thinks, who they vote for, what they voted for, what they think, but I will back their right to say or believe it,” he told the Daily Star.

“That’s democracy. So many good people fought for freedom and equality – but this generation are looking for a reason to be offended.

“If you are not agreeing with them, then they are offended.”

The Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle star added: “We thankfully now live in a world that has progressed over the last 30 or 40 years.

“People can be who they want, be with who they want, and live how they want.

“That can only be a good thing – but generation snowflake or, whatever you want to call them, are actually putting us backwards.”

Yahoo has reached out to The Rock’s publicists for comment.

He’s next up in the Fast & Furious spin-off Hobbs & Shaw, with Jason Statham, and then Disney movie Jungle Cruise, with Emily Blunt. The Rock also has a cameo in Stephen Merchant’s wrestling drama Fighting With My Family, about WWE superstar Paige. It’s been produced by Johnson’s production company.
