Ron Perlman says Hellboy 3 probably won’t happen now
Actor Ron Perlman was quizzed yet again on the future of ‘Hellboy 3′ and gave closure on the speculation once and for all.
While at this year’s New York Comic-Con, Screen Rant asked the ‘Pacific Rim’ actor what the situation on the third ‘Hellboy’ movie was. And it wasn’t great news for fans of the Guillermo Del Toro fantasy films.
“We don’t talk about that anymore,” the Hollywood veteran said.
This response was a bit different to what he’d preached several times before over the past few years, where he’d been enthusiastic and excited about the possibility of completing the trilogy.
When asked to elaborate, he revealed Del Toro, the maestro who directed the first two movies, simply wasn’t available to do it.
“Because he’s busy, and I’m busy. Maybe one day he’s going to call and say, ‘Hey, let’s do it.’ But for right now? We’re happy discovering new worlds to conquer.”
So it seems both Del Toro and Perlman are content to explore other options, at least until the time is right.
Only last year Perlman was trying to get the ball rolling when he tweeted out a plea for fans to generate some noise over a ‘Hellboy 3′. Naturally, plenty of people got behind him in the hope a film studio would pick up on the demand but it’s likely didn’t happen due to peoples’ schedules.
Sure, it’s not what fans wanted to hear but with the way sequels come about so long after first instalments nowadays (see ‘Independence Day: Resurgence’ and ‘Finding Dory’), then you really shouldn’t rule anything out.
