Sacha Baron Cohen says Pamela Anderson split with husband Kid Rock over her role in 'Borat'
Sacha Baron Cohen claims Pamela Anderson split with husband Kid Rock over her appearance in Borat.
Anderson played a small role in the Baron Cohen comedy, which sees Borat falling in love with the actress and attempting to kidnap her.
There were rumours the former Baywatch actress divorced her husband after he saw the controversial movie at a screening and was reported to have screamed at her: “You’re nothing but a whore! How could you do that movie?”

On an upcoming episode of The Daily Beast‘s podcast The Last Laugh, the Ali G creator insists the story is quite true, saying he messaged Anderson after the screening in question and asked: “How did it go? What did he think?”
“And she texted back, ‘He’s getting divorced,'” Baron Cohen says. “I was like, why? And she goes, ‘The movie.’ And I thought it was a joke, but then a few weeks later they got divorced and they put as a reason for divorce, Borat.”
Anderson married Kid Rock in July 2006, and filed for divorce in late November of the same year, just weeks after Borat was released.
The movie sees Borat interviewing unsuspecting Americans, speaking in broken English and making outrageous comments. Anderson was aware of the premise of the movie. Her scene sees Borat approaching her at a book signing and attempt to get her into a ‘traditional marriage sack’ to take her back to Kazakhstan so they can get married.

Talking about Anderson being in on the shock value of the movie, Baron Cohen says it was necessary for her to know what was going to happen: “Otherwise it would have been kidnapping.
“We did that scene twice, actually. The first time we did it at a book signing and I grabbed her over my shoulder and ran out with her and no one did anything. I was like, what kind of fans are these?”
