Fans of M. Night Shyalaman are eagerly anticipating the arrival of Glass in cinemas, but it doesn’t look like Toni Collette will be making an appearance.

The actress appeared in Shyamalan’s critically-acclaimed 1999 horror movie The Sixth Sense, playing the mother of Haley Joel Osmond’s Cole Sear, a troubled child who could see dead people, and it was a role that she earned a Best Supporting Actress Oscar nomination for.

The film also starred Bruce Willis as his child psychologist, and the actor went onto star in Shyamalan’s superhero thriller Unbreakable as superhuman David Dunn, which has since become known as the first film in the director’s Eastrail #177 trilogy.

The trilogy begins with the aforementioned 2000 film and was followed in 2017 with Split, which focused on a super-villain played by James McAvoy.

The third and final film, Glass, will pit their characters against each other, so when Yahoo Movies got the chance to speak to Collette for her new movie Hereditary we had to see if she had reunited with her original horror movie director.

Sadly, when asked if she would be making an appearance in Glass the actress said, “I haven’t heard anything about that, no.”

This could all be a ruse, of course, in order to keep certain cameos a secret.

Willis’ post-credit scene appearance in Split was kept well under-wraps to truly surprise audiences so Collette may appear in the film yet, though it might be unlikely that she would play Lynn Spear again.

Even though Cole has special abilities and could potentially be a part of Eastrail #177 trilogy’s superhuman world, Willis played a different character to Dunn so it might confuse things.

Glass will definitely see Samuel L. Jackson’ reprise his Unbreakable role as Elijah Price, AKA Mr. Glass.

Elijah suffers from Type I osteogenesis imperfecta, making his bones prone to fractures and breaks, and in his mission to find the complete opposite of him, an unbreakable person, he causes several fatal disasters including the Eastrail #177 train crash that David Dunne survives and Kevin Crumb’s father dies in.

This new film will see the return of Unbreakable stars Spencer Treat Clark as David’s son Joseph and Charlayne Woodard as Elijah’s mother Mrs. Price, as well as Split actress Anya Taylor-Joy as Casey Cooke, one of the girls Kevin kidnapped and who manages to survive The Beast, his 24th personality.

Sarah Paulson joins the cast as Dr. Ellie Staple, a psychiatrist specilising in patients convinced they are superhuman.

Split is expected in cinemas January 18, 2019
Hereditary is out in cinemas this Friday
