X-Men: Apocalypse Teases Archangel’s Metal Wings

It looks as though ‘X-Men: Apocalypse’ director Bryan Singer has given us a brief glimpse of Archangel’s wings… and they look a lot like the comic books.

Appearing on Instagram, Singer posted an image of himself clutching a metallic, feather-like object… and in the picture’s comment, seemed to confirm that it’s part of Archangel’s wings.

Of course, Marvel fans will no doubt recall that Archangel’s metal wings were given to him by Apocalypse in the comic books… and were able to fire long, metal feathers as projectiles when the going got tough.

Does this mean ‘X-Men: Apocalypse’ will give Archangel a similar power?

Archangel will be played by ‘Eastenders’ actor Ben Hardy… and we’ve already seen some rather impressive concept art depicting the classic ‘X-Men’ character’s more technologically advanced look.

And he already looks pretty awesome.

Early reports from those who have seen the San Diego Comic Con trailer indicate that ‘X-Men: Apocalypse’ seems to be edging towards a more classic look for our favourite mutants. And based on Singer’s recent Instagram posts, I can’t help thinking this is going to be one comic book movie that really pays homage to its source.

Does this mean that the rest of the ‘new’ X-Men will get a similar treatment? And could we finally see those classic ‘X-Men’ costumes on the big screen?

For now, we’ll have to wait and see.

‘X-Men: Apocalypse’ is heading to cinemas on 27 May 2016.
