Danny DeVito Praises Gotham's Penguin Robin Lord Taylor
Danny DeVito has praised actor Robin Lord Taylor for his portrayal of the Penguin in Fox’s Batman prequel series ‘Gotham’.
DeVito played the character, real name Oswalrd Cobblepot, in Tim Burton’s 1992 favourite ‘Batman Returns’. It was one of the actors most memorable performances.

In an interview with Access Hollywood (via CBM) the actor said: “I’ve watched the show. I think he’s a very good young Penguin. He’s a terrific actor.”
His comments will certainly be a relief to Taylor, who has previously admitted to feeling intimidated trying to follow-up such a memorably disgusting and despicable performance with his own portrayal of the DC Comics villain.
'Gotham' may have received a fair share share of criticism since it began in September, but Taylor has been a constant source of praise and easily the show's early highlight.
As for DeVito, would he ever be interested in a return to Gotham City? “I don’t know about that,” he said. “Again, it’s all about the schedules and the parts and like how the thing is written and what it would be and there are so many particulars.”
That sounds like a polite no then.
'Gotham' returns from its mid-season break tonight (19 Jan) in the US and will return to Channel 5 in the UK not long after.
