Deadpool & Wolverine deleted scene confirms Gambit's fate
Deadpool & Wolverine spoilers follow.
A deleted scene from Deadpool & Wolverine has confirmed Gambit's (Channing Tatum) fate after it was left a mystery in the theatrical cut.
The MCU film, the third in the Deadpool franchise, saw the titular heroes – played by Ryan Reynolds and Hugh Jackman, respectively – team up to stop a powerful new threat, the villainous Cassandra Nova (Emma Corrin).
With the foul-mouthed and often gory action taking place across the entire galaxy, there was plenty of room for returning characters, and the film didn't disappoint as various celebrities appeared in cameo roles.

Channing Tatum, who was due to play Gambit in a standalone film before the project fell through, finally got to appear in the role in Deadpool & Wolverine, joining Elektra (Jennifer Garner) and Blade (Wesley Snipes) in a resistance group.
After seemingly being consumed in The Void, a post-credits scene revealed that Gambit had in fact survived the mission, though it was hard to spot as the footage was only visible on a small television in the background.
In order to provide a full story to the fans, Reynolds shared the clip to his Instagram account, showing Tatum's Gambit walking past a slew of dead bodies before smiling into the camera as the music crescendos.
"*whispers* Marvel Sparkle Circle," wrote Reynolds in the caption. "#DeadpoolAndWolverine❤️💛 @slevydirect @channingtatum #Gambit *A version of this sequence is in the film, playing on one of the monitors in deep background of the TVA #WooImAboutToMakeANameForMyselfHere."

With Gambit surviving, this opens up the possibility of Tatum reprising his role in the future, with the star recently saying: "I sure hope so. From your mouth to God's ears. Write it into existence, my friend. Please."
"Of course I've said it. I've been saying I want it for the last ten years. It's in Bob Iger and Kevin Feige's hands. I pray to God," he added, referring to the respective bosses of Disney and Marvel.
Deadpool & Wolverine is now playing in cinemas.
