Been wondering what the new line-up - not to mention the newest member - of the Guardians of the Galaxy will look like? Now we have some idea.

Writer-director James Gunn released this piece of concept art from the recently-wrapped Marvel sequel – which gives us our first look at Mantis, who is set to make her debut in ‘Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2.’

Sharing the image on Facebook, Gunn wrote, “Well here you go, my friends. First bit of new concept art featuring the Guardians of the Galaxy, Vol. 2, first revealed by our friends at Entertainment Weekly. Drax, baby Groot, Yondu, Star-Lord, Mantis, Rocket, Nebula, and Gamora.

“Art by my wonderful pal Andy Park - this image led us a lot as we were developing the film. I can’t wait to show you guys more of what we have in store for you… stay tuned for San Diego Comicon announcements next week! ‪#‎GotGVol2

Perhaps SDCC will give us our first proper look at actress Pom Klementieff in Mantis mode – but this will do until then.

Central to the image, of course, are returning stars Chris Pratt as Peter Quill/Starlord, Zoe Saldana as Gamora, and Dave Bautista as Drax.

This image also confirms, as had been reported, that we can expect Groot to remain in baby form for the sequel, and that the film will also see the Guardians’ old frenemies Yondu (Michael Rooker) and Nebula (Karen Gillan) join the team, which should be interesting.

Vin Diesel and Bradley Cooper return to voice Groot and Rocket, whilst new additions to the cast include Nathan Fillion, Tommy Flanagan, Sylvester Stallone and Kurt Russell.

Here’s Marvel’s official synopsis for the interstellar sequel: “Set to the backdrop of ‘Awesome Mixtape #2,’ Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 continues the team’s adventures as they traverse the outer reaches of the cosmos.

“The Guardians must fight to keep their newfound family together as they unravel the mysteries of Peter Quill’s true parentage. Old foes become new allies and fan-favorite characters from the classic comics will come to our heroes’ aid as the Marvel cinematic universe continues to expand.”

‘Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2’ opens in UK cinemas on 28 April 2017.
