Jason Momoa Taking The Lead In The Crow Reboot

After more false starts than you can shake a stick at, it looks like ‘The Crow’ reboot may have finally found its leading man – and it’s a most formidable one at that.

Yes, it seems that none other than future Aquaman actor Jason Momoa is getting another comic book role to his name by taking the lead in director Corin Hardy’s long-in development take on James O’Barr’s undead anti-hero.

Momoa himself would seem to have confirmed as much, posting an image of himself and Hardy on Instagram, showing the two of them each enjoying a pint of Guinness, having reportedly ‘sealed the deal.’

Momoa wrote, “The only way to officially seal the deal as men Is a pint of black beauty. @guinness #sealthedeal #wearemarriednowf***er #greatnewstocome #dreamjob #cantwaittotelltheworld ALOHA ED”

Unless director Hardy has another project in the pipeline that we don’t know about, this would certainly seem to confirm that Momoa will be taking on the role of Eric Draven, the murdered musician who returns from the grave to avenge his lost love.

Mashable confirm that Momoa has indeed been in talks for ‘The Crow,’ and that its shoot should not clash with that of ‘Aquaman.’

Eric Draven was famously portrayed by Brandon Lee in the 1994 movie from director Alex Proyas, in which the actor was tragically killed in an on-set accident toward the end of production.

‘The Crow’ subsequently became a huge cult success, spawning three subpar sequels and a short-lived TV spin-off series.

The reboot has been stuck in development hell for several years, having gone through several potential leading men including Bradley Cooper, Mark Wahlberg and Luke Evans, and three potential directors in Stephen Norrington, Juan Carlos Fresnadillo and F Javier Guiterrez.

Production almost got underway earlier this year with Hardy as director and Jack Huston in the lead, but the financial difficulties of studio Relativity Media scuppered the project. (More on the film’s development here.)

Will Momoa’s presence finally help ‘The Crow’ reboot take flight? We shall have to wait and see; as of right now, the project does not have confirmed production or release dates.
