New Transformers 5 trailer reveals the secret history of Transformers

‘Transformers: The Last Knight’ gets another new trailer.

And it reveals the secret history of the Robots in Disguise.

A rather cool new ‘Transformers 5’ trailer has appeared online, but it’s no ordinary, action-packed sequence. Instead, it’s an intriguing history lesson courtesy of Sir Edmund Burton (played by Anthony Hopkins) who reveals that the Transformers have always been here on Earth… and they’ve taken part in some of the greatest moments in history.

We just didn’t know about it.

“It started as legend,” he explains. “One of the greatest of all. One of the oldest of all.”

He’s referring, of course, to the Arthurian legend which ‘Transformers 5’ is based upon.

But it seems it doesn’t stop there.

“Every legend has a secret,” he adds, as some rather cool images of Transformers throughout history appear on screen. “They have been here forever, in the shadows, to protect Earth from what was destined to arrive.”

What we find is that the Transformers have been there throughout the history of civilization – fighting as noble samurai warriors in pre-modern Japan, and even storming Nazi headquarters during a particularly cool scene where a transformer (possibly Sir Edmund’s very own robot guardian) goes full metal jacket.

And it’s really rather cool.

“A thousand years we’ve kept it hidden,” he explains. “The secret history of Transformers.”

But can they save us from what’s about to come? We have to wait and see.

‘Transformers: The Last Knight’ stars Mark Wahlberg, Laura Haddock, Anthony Hopkins, Isabela Moner, Gemma Chan, Peter Cullen and Frank Weller.

Michael Bay directed the film based on a script by Art Meachum, Matt Holloway and Ken Nolan.

‘Transformers: The Last Knight’ heads to cinemas on 23 June 2017.
