Just when you thought the casting for Marvel’s ‘Thor: Ragnarok’ couldn’t get any better, ‘Jurassic Park’ legend Sam Neill has only gone and confirmed his involvement.
Speaking to Shortlist, the actor who is currently promoting his new movie ‘Hunt for the Wilderpeople’, revealed his part in the upcoming Thor instalment.
When asked whether his ‘Wilderpeople’ director - Taika Waititi, who also helms ‘Ragnarok’ - has convinced him to join the Marvel Cinematic Universe in the future, Neill dropped the news that he was actually already in it!
“Oddly enough, I’m not really allowed to say this, and I can’t tell you what it is… I did a couple of days on Thor, just before I came over here. I had to sign all sorts of things that say if I say anything else, Marvel’s Secret Agents, and they are lethal, will come and get me, and probably my children as well.”
So while Neill gives absolutely nothing away, in accordance with Marvel’s strict no spoilers policy, it’s great to learn he will be in the movie in some capacity.
He joins former ‘Jurassic Park’ co-star Jeff Goldblum, which is not only hugely exciting for JP fans but movie enthusiasts in general. Will we get to see some Neill-Goldblum joint screen time? We sure hope so!
What’s more, Neill joins a host of other talented names, including returning faces Chris Hemsworth, Tom Hiddleston, Idris Elba, Jaimie Alexander, and Anthony Hopkins. Mark Ruffalo crosses over from the Avengers movies to appear as Bruce Banner and, significantly, as the Hulk (we hope); with Cate Blanchett, Tessa Thompson, Karl Urban, and Ray Stevenson making up a strong cast.
‘Thor: Ragnarok’s’ cast is arguably one of the MCU’s most mouthwatering after the success of the first two films. And now Dr Alan Grant is making an appearance alongside Ian Malcolm. We can barely contain ourselves.
‘Thor: Ragnarok’ is in UK cinemas on 27 October, 2017.
