Wolverine 3 Will Feature Classic X-Men Villain

It’s official - Mister Sinister is in ‘Wolverine 3’

It’s no secret that ‘X-Men: Apocalypse’ set up the introduction of classic ‘X-Men’ comic book villain, Mister Sinister. But we’ll be seeing see him a lot sooner than we thought.

“Mister Sinister will be the villain in The Wolverine 3,” claims Cinema Blend. And that’s because Simon Kinberg and Bryan Singer apparently confirmed this on the upcoming Blu-ray release of ‘X-Men: Apocalypse’.

“We now know this thanks to the audio commentary featuring Simon Kinberg and director Bryan Singer that is attached to the digital release of X-Men: Apocalypse - which just came out this past Friday.”

But who is Mister Sinister?

His first appearance was in Uncanny X-Men #221 back in 1987… and saw Mister Sinister leading the Marauders. It was eventually revealed that he had made a clone of Jean Grey for the purpose of conceiving a child with Cyclops - that’s right, he essentially created the time-travelling solider (and rumoured ‘Deadpool 2’ character), Cable.

Of course, the ‘X-Men’ movies introduced him in the post-credits scene of ‘X-Men: Apocalypse’, when a vial of Wolverine’s blood is scavenged from the Weapon X project by representatives of Essex Corp - the business owned by Mister Sinister.

“As the post-credits scene begins to roll, Kinberg and Singer discuss the Deadpool 2 teaser idea that they ultimately had to scrap, but wrap up that little bit of trivia by confirming that the Mister Sinister tease is indeed a method of preparing audiences for 2017’s untitled Wolverine 3.”

But who will be playing Mister Sinister?

Unfortunately, there’s no official word on who that might be… but fans have already begun speculating that Richard E. Grant’s mysterious role could be the classic ‘X-Men’ villain.

For now, we’ll have to wait and see.

‘Wolverine 3’ heads to cinemas on 2 March 2017.
