First poster for Christopher Nolan's Dunkirk released ahead of new trailer
Warner Bros has released the first poster for Christopher Nolan’s World War 2 epic ‘Dunkirk’, ahead of a new trailer set to drop later this week.
A teaser released earlier this year offered a brief, dramatic glimpse at the film, setting the tone for the devastating conflict the film is set to depict. Expect to see a little more of Nolan’s spectacle in the new footage.

‘Dunkirk’ will tell the story of the evacuation of British and Allied forces from Europe that occurred between late May and early June 1940. Tens of thousands died, tens of thousands were captured, and tens of thousands were saved during the enormous battle.
Whether Nolan’s film – his first since 2014’s ‘Interstellar’ – will tell a more personal story against this backdrop or use an ensemble to tell the story of Dunkirk more broadly, remains to be seen. The new trailer may well shed light on this however.
The film stars Tom Hardy (who we believe may be the soldier depicted in the poster above), Kenneth Branagh, Mark Rylance, Cillian Murphy, Harry Styles and James D’Arcy.
‘Dunkirk’s official website has received an overhaul as well. Currently it shows a poster map similar in style to those seen during the Second World War, showing the north of France and where the Allied troops have been surrounded by Axis forces.
The new trailer is expected to be dropped between now and the release of ‘Rogue One: A Star Wars Story’ which arrives in cinemas on Thursday (15 December) in the UK and Friday in the US. According to Deluxe Digital Cinema, who were sent the trailer as an encrypted file, the footage will total two minutes and 18 seconds in length.
This new ‘Dunkirk’ trailer will be the latest in a long line of new trailers for some of 2017’s biggest films, which have all be released in the hope of being attached to ‘Rogue One’.
Over the past couple of weeks we’ve seen trailers for ‘Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2’, ‘The Fate of the Furious’, ‘Spider-Man: Homecoming’, ‘War for the Planet of the Apes’, ‘Baywatch’, ‘The Mummy’, ‘Fifty Shades Darker’, ‘Transformers: The Last Knight’ and more.
There’s also the likelihood to consider that Disney will attach some kind of tease of ‘Star Wars: Episode 8’ to ‘Rogue One’ this week.
‘Dunkirk’ is set for release on 21 July, 2017.
